Stefan Bajcetic could become the latest Liverpool player reunited with former Reds assistant manager Pep Lijnders at Red Bull Salzburg. The Austrian side want to sign Bajcetic on a season-long loan move having already taken Bobby Clark from Anfield earlier this month in a permanent £10million deal.

Liverpool will allow Bajcetic to depart on a temporary basis with the 19-year-old midfielder having struggled for minutes during pre-season under new boss Arne Slot.

A number of other European clubs have also expressed an interest in taking the player on loan, including his former team Celta Vigo. But Salzburg have taken a clear lead with negotiations ongoing over an agreement.

Bajcetic made his senior Liverpool debut in August 2022 and broke into the first team on a regular basis earlier the next year, only to pick up a pelvic issue in March 2023 that forced him miss much of the next 18 months.

The midfielder's only senior outing since last September was a 25-minute run-out from the bench in the home Premier League win over Tottenham Hotspur in May.

Bajcetic played 132 minutes across five appearances during pre-season but failed to make the matchday squad for the opening league games against Ipswich Town and Brentford.

The Spanish youngster has also not featured in any of the under-21s games so far this campaign in preparation for a likely move away from Anfield.
