Stella McCartney designs a £1335 silky bomber jacket for Taylor Swift's Lover tour

Stella McCartney has collaborated with Taylor Swift to create the singer’s latest tour merchandise, inspired by Swift’s seventh studio album, Lover.

The main merchandise collection features limited edition t-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, bags and even a reusable water bottle - this is ever-sustainable Stella, after all.

And while “Taylor and Stella worked hard to make the core album merchandise available at affordable prices,” said the brand in a statement, there are two limited-edition items, which go on sale tomorrow, that Taylor super fans will have to blow their savings to acquire.

The first is a pale pink silky bomber jacket made from sustainable viscose with an airbrushed heart at the front, glass rhinestone detailing and ‘Stella x Taylor Swift’ sprayed in black graffiti on the back. Retailing at a cool £1,335, the bomber will be prohibitively expensive for the majority of Taylor’s army of tweeny bopper fans, no matter how much pocket money they have saved.

The second limited edition item is a faux leather handbag (made from oyster-hued Eco Alter-Nappa leather) which costs £525, contains recycled polyester oils from vegetable waste and is solvent-free.

The idea to create the capsule came from a budding friendship between the two creatives.

“When I started spending more time in London, Stella and I would go on walks, have cocktails and talk about life,” Swift tells Vogue. “So, when it came time to write this album, I name-checked her in one of my songs and when I played her the album, I said, ‘Should we do something?’”

“After Taylor played me the entire album it gave me such incredible inspiration for the collaboration and it really revolved around the music,” McCartney continues. “What I love is how we really complement each other in what we generate creatively together.”

Designs for the whole collection take inspiration from lyrics in the Lover album, graffiti, vintage band tees and nostalgic tour memorabilia. T-shirts and hoodies also feature photos of one of Taylor’s three cats, Benjamin Button.

Fancy splashing out on a bomber for the die-hard ‘Swiftie’ in your life? Fingers on the buzzers on Stellamccartney.com from the evening of August 22, when the limited edition pieces will first go on sale. They’re bound to become collectors’ items so if you mean business, act fast.
