Steph and Dom have quit Gogglebox

If you’re wondering why there’s a Steph and Dom-shaped hole in the latest series of Gogglebox, there’s a very good reason.

The couple have announced they’ve quit the hit Channel 4 show – and it’s all because they want to give everybody else a chance to have their say.

How very generous.

“We think it’s important that everyone gets their chance to be on Gogglebox and give their opinion,” they told The Sun. “Having been on it from the beginning we felt like we’d pretty much said all we needed to say, and we knew what we were going say.”

“We’ve got other projects and not a lot of time. We’re very busy and filming at the hotel was pretty tough.”

The much-loved wine-swigging duo went on to add that they were “touched that people have been missing us,” adding: ‘We do still watch it and we enjoy the new characters, it’s still making us belly laugh which is great.“

We can’t help but wonder whether the pair have quit so they can spend a little more time tidying up that grim-looking kitchen of theirs.

In case you missed it, the duo’s B&B was recently rocked by a series of shocking photos that somehow found their way into the newspapers.

Speaking to The Sun at the time, Dom blamed the sorry affair on a disgruntled ex-employee. “Last year we got a five star rating, but this guy got himself in a bit of a pickle and didn’t keep on top of things,” he explained.

“It was his responsibility to keep the place clean and he wasn’t performing properly – it’s all down to that guy and now we’re getting the blame.”

Hmmm… we believe you, Dom!

Of course, Gogglebox hasn’t been the Steph and Dom’s only stint on the telly. There’s also been a one-off chat show and a bizarre interview with Ukip chum Nigel Farage.

Something tells us they won’t be off our screens for long.
