Getting emotional, she explained: “A few years ago I had not a lot of self-worth in myself, didn’t really believe in myself and was going through a really bad time. I got took advantage of a lot, I never really have anyone who really loved me for me.

“It all got too much and I got really depressed. I ended up taking an overdose, thinking, ‘I can’t see myself getting out of this anymore’.

“It was really really tough. After that, I stayed with him [a past boyfriend] because I thought that’s what I deserved, and it wasn’t. I realise [now] that I deserve more than that.

“I know it was bad with Jez, but he was the first person to love me for being me. Not just that, give me the belief back in myself that I haven’t had in a long time.”

She recalled calling an ambulance as she lived on her own, adding that she was ‘frustrated and angry’ with herself.

Thankfully, the actress feels more at peace and content with herself now, thanks in no small part to the Celebrity Big Brother and Jeremy McConnell.

Speaking of Jeremy, Steph revealed that she’s seeing him later today (February 9), adding that ‘everything happens for a reason’.

Confirming that she’d texted Sam Reece the day after the CBB final, Steph revealed: “I just said you know, I said a lot of things but, ‘it’s nice to see you’ve been making money off the back of it, now you’ve got your own money I don’t have to pay for everything.

“Good luck with everything and I’ve finally met someone who does love me for being me.”

She went on to explain she loves Jez because of his ‘morals and everything’, explaining: “I got speaking to Jez, when he was younger, he lost his mum, brother and sister in the space of 15 months. The only picture he had of his mum and brother was on his neck.

“He’s down to earth and calm and has such a great outlook on life after having such a terrible time.”
