While there are more shows currently airing and being announced than even we can keep track of, sometimes things do actually come to an end – and DC and The CW's Arrow is one of them.

The first show from the Arrowverse is wrapping up with its eighth season, and according to star Stephen Amell, fans are going to be pleased with how things conclude.

At the San Diego Comic-Con 2019 Arrow panel, a fan asked how the show's ending would compare to another big show that recently wrapped up after eight seasons. Amell replied: "I'm not the right person to answer this question – I loved the last season of Game of Thrones.

"If you all hate our finale, I'll know we've done a good job! No... Arrow has a happy ending."

Producer Marc Guggenheim explained why now was the best time to end the show, stating: "We've all talked about this, and we all kind of want to leave the party while the party's still going. People still talk about the show, thank God.

"Also, there's logistical and budgetary limitations that you face when you're dealing with an eight-year show. We want to go out [...] while the show's still the show – we don't want to turn the show into something 'less than' just to keep going."

And director James Banford thinks that the upcoming season will contain some of their best work, saying: "Every night this week, we've shot sequences that we didn't think we were capable of before.

He continued: "And the actors who are coming to set... if they don't win an Emmy for what we've done this week – Stephen, every one of these people on the cast... there's something wrong. I've never been so impressed with the performances that we've been getting.

"The size and the scope of just the premiere is nothing like we've done before. It's incredible."

Following her departure from the show in season seven, Felicity Smoak actress Emily Bett Rickards was not there at the panel, with Amell saying it felt "a little bit incomplete" without her.

Arrow is returning to The CW for its eighth and final season on October 15.
