Stephen Fry has compared Strictly Come Dancing to an electric shock, explaining his opposition to dancing.

The iconic actor, writer and comedian admitted he's horrified by dancing in general - not just on primetime TV. "I hate dancing more than I can possibly explain," he told The One Show.

Why? "I think I kind of missed the lessons. I always feel that everybody else had dancing lessons and I must've had a dental appointment that day," he explained.

"From the early stage I can remember dance floors, discos and I just felt like an alien. I had no place there, I didn't know how to move, where the foot goes. Do you look down? Do you look up? Do you twist your body?"

He gets a bit embarrassed when he sees other people moving to music, too.

"I just get that sort of blush in my face and I think: 'Oh stop it!'" Stephen said.

But as for Strictly, in truth, he's never actually sat through an episode, the joker - and his feelings come from a place of love.

"I've never seen Strictly, ever. I can't watch it. I've seen the odd trailer for it and I immediately go 'Argh!' as if I've been given an electric shock. I'm sure it's charming, I know everybody loves it."

In other Strictly news, we know that this weekend (31 October), Nicola Adams and Katya Jones will be dancing the first couples' choice of the series to the song Shine by Years & Years.

Elsewhere in week two, Caroline and Johannes will dance the Paso Doble, Clara and Aljaz will take on the Viennese Waltz and Jacqui and Anton will do the Samba.

Find out what all the couples are dancing to here.

Strictly Come Dancing airs this Saturday night at 7.15pm on BBC One.
