'Steph's Packed Lunch' gets backing until end of 2023 thanks to BAFTA nod and highest-ever ratings
Steph's Packed Lunch is set to stay on air until at least the end of 2023, thanks to a recommission fuelled by a BAFTA nomination and the show's best-ever ratings.
The Channel 4 daytime magazine show hosted by former BBC business reporter Steph McGovern launched during lockdown and was broadcast from McGovern's own living room, but has gone on to cement itself as a weekday staple in its Leeds Dock studio.

Now, the series has been recommissioned for the rest of 2022 and through 2023 as it awaits news on whether it can win a TV BAFTA this weekend in the daytime category.
Channel 4 is pleased with the show's progress as it is now averaging a 3.4% share of viewers in 2022, up +9% on the same period in 2021.
McGovern said: "Eeee, I can’t believe it. We started the show in my living room in a lockdown, and now we’re nominated for a BAFTA.
"I’m so proud of my brilliant team who have made this show a place where we can all have a laugh together, meet people with extraordinary stories and tackle real issues. I also love that we’re broadcasting live every day from Leeds, which has meant we’ve been able to create opportunities in and around the area for lots of different people from all walks of life.

"It’s great we’re going to be able to continue doing that. And I get to carry on doing a job I absolutely love. Win win!"
Steph's Packed Lunch also features regular contributions from John Whaite, Denise Van Outen, Baroness Sayeeda Warsi, Dane Baptiste, Reverend Kate Bottley, Freddy Forster and Gareth Thomas, who cover subjects from cooking to current affairs and consumer items.
The show is also nominated at the TRIC Awards and has been nominated at the RTS Programme Awards and Broadcast Awards, but faces tough competition in the daytime category.
Sunday's BAFTA TV Awards ceremony will see it go up against The Chase, Richard Osman's House of Games, and Moneybags.
Steph's Packed Lunch airs Monday to Friday at 12.30pm on Channel 4.
