New 'access points' used by nuisance riders who 'plague' a Nuneaton park will be closed. That is one of the steps of action Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council has pledged to take at Whittleford Park.

It follows concerns raised by CoventryLive from locals who say that the park is plagued motorbikes, e-bikes and quad bikes. One resident, who did not want to be named, said that parents are being forced to scoop-up their children to avoid them being hit by speeding riders.

He also wildlife areas are being churned up, with bikes repeatedly tearing up the grass and the verges, leaving 'mud baths in every direction.' The resident demanded that the police and council finally take action to stop them.

"In recent times some gaps have been closed and new access points observed, but these will also be closed as soon as possible. Meetings are set to take place between the council’s antisocial social behaviour ream and warwickshire-county-council>Warwickshire County Council, to review issues such as this borough wide.

"The authority will continue to work closely with police to monitor the situation in the park."

In a statement, Sergeant Adam Corless of the Nuneaton Safer Neighbourhood Team, previously explained that they are aware of the situation at the park and the wider area - and are taking action. Also, following concerns about raising reports by calling 101, he urged residents to report incidents via the the Dob Em In scheme online here

“You can also make reports online at www.warwickshire.police.uk/report, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111," he added.
