Shocking footage has re-emerged of a 2005 interview between radio presenter and producer Howard Stern and former Spice Girl Emma Bunton, with him subjecting her to some extremely sexist and degrading questions.

In the video, which has resurfaced on social media following investigations into how women are treated in the showbiz world, the DJ and former America's Got Talent judge repeatedly makes vile remarks about Emma's body and asks her humiliating personal questions, such as when she reached puberty and started her period to whether or not she has lost her virginity.

Stern starts by saying: "You are asking for it and you are going to get it. Robin's [Quivers, his co-host] not here today so I can do you," before demanding to know whether she was still a virgin at 18 when she joined the Spice Girls.

While the sound of pornographic audio of a woman screaming can be heard in the background, Emma, looking uncomfortable, simply replies: "Yes!"

"Are you lying?" he presses. "You've got a hot little body, I can't imagine that... you know.

"I can see you, like, girl-on-girl action, I could see you with two guys. I could see you doing a lot of stuff."

Stern continues: "Milkman's daughter, 14 years old," while his producer interjects: "If your father's a milkman, you have to put out."

Emma then tells them both: "Stop that now!" adding: "If my dad hears that, he won't be happy. He won't be happy that you're talking to me like this."

But the DJ creepily continues, saying: "Ah, he loves it. I bet when you were young you started in with boys, right? You were very developed. What age did you develop? 14?

"When did you get your period? How old were you? That's what everyone talks about."

Looking flustered, Emma shuts him down and says: "I don't care, I'm not talking to you about that. Absolutely not."

But Stern, who Forbes recently named the world's highest paid radio host, earning an estimated $90million (£68million) each year, didn't stop there.

"I feel like you didn't wear a bra just for me today," he continues. "And I feel like you're not wearing panties today. I get that vibe.

When Emma says she is wearing underwear, Howard then asks her "what kind of panties", adding: "I'm liking about your panties and no bra, it's turning me on a little bit."

He continues: "You like showing your body off, I see these pictures. You're wearing sexy little outfits, you're practically naked in some of them."

When Emma replies: "Because the older you get, I've become more confident I think," Howard adds: "So don't act like you don't like this, you're all about this.

"You want attention through your body. You want it. You're asking for it, you're gonna get it."

Taking to Twitter, Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts retweeted the clip to her followers, telling them: "This old tape is disgusting. Poor Emma.

"Don't let anyone ever subject you like this, you're well within your rights to tell him to GFH :)".

Depressingly, if women who work in the public eye – we're talking stars who have managers and entire teams dedicated to their support and success – are still treated appallingly by men in their industries, what hope is there for the rest of us?
