Steve Irwin's daughter Bindi to walk down the aisle with koala at wedding
Steve Irwin’s daughter Bindi is planning to walk down the aisle with a koala on her wedding day.
The 21-year-old – whose zookeeper and conservationist dad died from a stingray injury to the heart in 2006 – is set to marry her boyfriend of four years, Chandler Powell, at Australia Zoo.
Powell told Good Morning America: "We're so excited. It's where we met and where we got engaged so it only makes sense that we'd have it at Australia Zoo.
"See, I think this wedding is going to be unique because it's going to be at the zoo with tons of animals."
Bindi agreed, adding: "I'm not sure how many people have walked down the aisle with a koala, but we may be setting some new trends for weddings from here on out."

She also revealed: “I chose the dress yesterday and it was amazing. Funnily enough I have everything else planned – but I left my dress to the last minute. It’s really special and I love it so much because it mimics my mom’s beautiful dress, so I kind of paid tribute to her beautiful wedding dress and I’m thrilled.”
Bindi’s 15-year-old brother Robert, who has followed in his late father’s Crocodile Hunter footsteps by performing with animals at the zoo, will also be walking his sister down the aisle.
Steve, who was just 44 when he died, married American-born conservationist Terri in 1992 and they worked together on TV shows up until his death.

American wakeboarding champion Powell, 22, met Bindi in 2013 when he visited Australia Zoo while on holiday with his family. They officially began dating in July 2015, after Powell contacted Terri Irwin and asked if he could take her daughter out. Last year he moved to Australia, where he works at the zoo and features in the Irwins’ reality show Crikey! It’s The Irwins.
He said: "How lucky I am, I get the most beautiful girl in the world. I'm marrying into the most wonderful family."
Powell popped the question at the zoo in July, and the couple have revealed the new series of the show will see them release a koala back into the wild to commemorate their engagement.
Long-time family friend Russell Crowe is expected to be a guest at the wedding. The Gladiator star gave Bindi a $25,000 Rolex watch as an engagement present that he believed her dad “would have wanted” her to have.
