Steve Parish set to find out if Crystal Palace will get go-ahead for £100m new stand at Selhurst Park

Crystal Palace get green light for £100m Selhurst Park redevelopment as Croydon Council approves plans

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish is due to be at Croydon Town Hall tonight to hear if the club’s £100million plans to redevelop the main stand at Selhurst Park will be approved.

Planning officials have recommended the proposal is given the go-ahead and Croydon council will meet to vote on whether to grant permission.

A new main stand would expand the capacity of the stadium from 26,000 to more than 34,000.

If approved tonight it will give Palace more than a year to plan for the start of the building project at the end of next season.

Palace expect redevelopment of the ground to be completed by the start of the 2020-21 campaign.

Council officers have recommended permission is granted subject to Palace rehousing residents of six homes that are due to be demolished as part of the redevelopment and the club also strengthening their plans for travel arrangements for supporters.

Although council officers have recommended the plans are approved, the council’s planning committee must still vote in favour of the redevelopment and the Mayor of London has to also give the scheme the go-ahead.
