Steve Stephens, who murdered a pensioner chosen at random on Easter Sunday, posting the footage on Facebook, has been found dead.
Pennsylvania state police said on Tuesday morning that Stephens, 37, took his own life after a police chase.
His death marks the end of a three-day, five-state manhunt.
Stephens boasted of murdering 15 people, but police in Ohio - where he killed Robert Godwin on Sunday - are yet to confirm any further killings.
"We have closure in regards to the hunt for Steve Stephens," said Frank Jackson, mayor of Cleveland, where Mr Godwin lived and was murdered.
