Stoke City boss salutes magic man Million Manhoef as goal splurge continues
Steven Schumacher saluted a moment of Million Manhoef magic to be Stoke City’s match winner at Plymouth.
Manhoef followed up his two goals in Stoke’s mid-week thrashing of Middlesbrough with another late on at Home Park. That comes on the back of his strong end to last season, ending with four goals in six appearances.
This time the 22-year-old picked up a pass from Sol Sidibe wide on the right and sizzled inside before a strike through Bali Mumba’s legs and inside the near post past Conor Hazard.

Schumacher said: “He's in good form. If you remember at the back end of last season he scored a few too. We knew when we brought him in last January that he was talented and it might take him a bit of time to get up to speed in the Championship and figure out what it was all about but he's doing really well. When you get him in those areas he can produce moments of magic and today he's done it. We're really pleased because it got us the three points we needed.”
It was a good way for Schumacher to sign off his first return to Plymouth since leaving for Stoke last December.
It has been a challenging week, with Tuesday’s tip to Teesside followed by a long deadline day and an away match in the south west, all on the back of a frustrating home defeat to West Brom last weekend.
Schumacher, who went onto the pitch to applaud all four stands at full-time, said when he was asked how he was feeling at the end of it all: “Drained! For the neutral it was an entertaining end to end game. We kind of expected it to go like that with the way Argyle set up and the way we wanted to approach it. We said that whichever team showed the most quality on the day on the counter-attack was probably going to go and win it.
“I felt that we didn't show enough quality on the big chances we got. We got into the right areas so many times but just didn't make the right pass or execute the finish but Million produced another moment of magic and we go away with all three points. So, drained but delighted.”
