Stoke City confirm exit of midfielder to Championship rivals
Josh Laurent has completed his Stoke City exit and joined Burnley.
The 29-year-old midfielder has moved for an undisclosed fee believed to be worth up to £1m, with £500,000 up front and the same again dependent on clauses.
He has made 80 appearances for Stoke since joining as a free agent in the summer of 2022, scoring eight goals. He captained the side last season but has handed the armband to Ben Gibson this term. He had one year left on his contract and his immediate future has been subject to speculation all summer.

Sporting director Jon Walters said: “With Josh entering the final year of his contract, Burnley submitted an offer which we believed was in the club’s best interests to accept. He leaves with our thanks for his efforts in a Stoke City shirt and our best wishes for his future career.”
It continues a late window renovation of Stoke's midfield, with Lewis Baker joining Blackburn Rovers and Daniel Johnson being released by mutual consent. Tatsuki Seko is expected to complete a move from Japan this evening. Burnley take on Blackburn this weekend.
