Stoke City midfielder pulls out of international duty as teammates travel world
Jordan Thompson has pulled out of Northern Ireland’s Nations League campaign to recover from an injury which forced him out of the last two Stoke City games.
The 27-year-old midfielder, now Stoke's longest-serving first team player, was due to meet up with Michael O’Neill’s squad for games against Luxembourg and Bulgaria but a calf strain has put paid to what would be a chance to add to his 38 international caps.
He is expected to be back available for Stoke’s trip to Oxford United in the Championship on Saturday, September 14 (12.30pm) in what is a competitive midfield department following late summer transfer business.
