Steven Schumacher has named an attacking Stoke City side as he makes his first return to Plymouth Argyle as an opposition manager.

Schumacher has made four changes to the starting XI from last weekend’s defeat to West Brom and has handed shirts to Million Manhoef, Lewis Koumas, Ryan Mmaee, Bae Junho and Andrew Moran, with Wouter Burger tasked with holding in midfield.

Ben Wilmot is captain next to Ash Phillips, who makes his league debut for Stoke against the club where he spent the second-half of last season on loan. Junior Tchamadeu and Eric Bocat take the full-back roles ahead of keeper Viktor Johansson.

It is a young bench, with forward Keke Jeffers joining midfielder Will Smith, who made his debut as a sub at Middlesbrough on Tuesday, Emre Tezgel, Jaden Dixon and Sol Sidibe. Stoke won that game at Boro 5-0 with the youngest side in the club’s history and will be hoping to take that momentum into their fourth league fixture of the season.

Jordan Thompson misses out with a calf injury and deadline day signings Tom Cannon and Tatsuki Seko were not done in time to be available.

Stoke: Johansson, Tchamadeu, Bocat, Wilmot, Phillips, Burger, Moran, Junho, Manhoef, Koumas, Mmaee. Subs: Fielding, Gooch, Ennis, Gibson, Sidibe, Tezgel, Dixon, Smith, Jeffers
