Freddie Anderson, Jaden Dixon, Frankie Fielding and Lewis Koumas make their Stoke City debuts in a Carabao Cup first round tie at Carlisle United.

Anderson and Dixon, both aged 17, get their reward for impressing in pre-season, with Dixon expected to slot in at right-back and Anderson - the son of England international Viv Anderson - starting at centre-half alongside Ben Wilmot. Daniel Johnson is expected to fill in at left-back.

Sol Sidibe comes into the starting XI at the centre of midfield, flanked by Wouter Burger and Lewis Baker, who scored the winner against Coventry on Saturday.

Niall Ennis leads the forward line, with Lewis Koumas - who has signed on a season-long loan from Liverpool - on the left wing and Million Manhoef on the right.

It is a first Stoke appearance for goalkeeper Fielding since he joined Stoke initially as emergency cover back in December 2021, stepping up as Jack Bonham is monitored following a wrist injury.

It means that only Wilmot, Burger and Manhoef keep their places from the Coventry game, with the eight other players from that afternoon named on the bench. Nathan Lowe makes it nine and there is no place in the squad for either Andre Vidigal or Ryan Mmaee.

Stoke: Fielding, Dixon, Johnson, Anderson, Wilmot, Sidibe, Baker, Burger, Manhoef, Koumas, Ennis. Subs: Johansson, Tchamadeu, Gibson, Thompson, Laurent, Bocat, Tezgel, Gooch, Lowe.
