Businesswoman Sam Wilcox was always going to end up in the pottery industry - and is now overseeing a range of city-made mugs that go through 26 pairs of skilled hands. The Stoke-on-Trent born former journalist says pottery is 'in my blood' having grown up with her dad owning a potbank and a grandfather working as a pottery wholesaler.

Now it's Sam turn to add her efforts to the city's globally-renowned industry after launching Sipp of Stoke. The firm has now unveiled its collection of fine bone china mugs.

The range is being produced at the Longton-based Duchess China factory where Sam says the mugs are 'meticulously handcrafted, passing through 26 skilled pairs of hands'. The former marketing worker is also delighted the range is benefiting from the same talented potters who supply retailers like Fortnum & Mason and Harrods.

"My father owned a potbank, and my grandfather was a pottery wholesaler. Although my career took me into journalism and marketing, my passion for pottery has never faded. Sipp of Stoke is my way of honouring that legacy while ensuring the craft continues to thrive for future generations."

Each mug is made using locally-sourced material while the packaging is also eco-friendly.

Sam added: "There’s something uniquely personal about knowing exactly where your favourite mug comes from. At Sipp of Stoke, each mug is a tribute to the city’s unique pottery heritage. It’s our way of keeping British craftsmanship alive in a world where it’s becoming increasingly rare."
