Stolen Car Hits Florida Deputy, Propelling Her Across Parking Lot

A woman was arrested and a sheriff’s deputy injured when a stolen car was driven at speed at the deputy in Manatee County, Florida, on January 20, propelling her across a parking lot.

Aerial footage published by Manatee County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) shows the incident.

Earlier, deputies had “located a stolen vehicle, but the driver managed to get away after being involved in a traffic crash,” according to the sheriff’s office.

The car was later rediscovered with help the the MCSO aviation unit. As deputies attempted to stop the suspect, car reversed, then drove towards a deputy who had exited her vehicle to issue commands. The deputy was thrown from the hood of the vehicle.

Police said the suspect, Katarina Vanfossen, got out of the car and was quickly arrested by other deputies on the scene.
