Stone Roses To Go Back On The Road For UK Gigs

The Stone Roses are going back on the road again - two years after they finished their global reunion tour.

The Manchester band announced two gigs next summer at Man City football club's Etihad Stadium, and they will also play T in the Park at Strathallan Castle, Perthshire.

There had been speculation about possible new shows or even new music after mystery posters showing the quartet's lemon logo were noticed around the city.

Ian Brown, John Squire, Mani and Reni made a triumphant comeback in 2012.

The previous year the band announced they were reforming after frontman Brown and guitarist Squire reconciled for the first time since Squire left in 1996.

The group, who split a few months after Squire's departure, are often hailed as the inspiration for a generation of bands.

During their comeback, they played three times at Manchester's Heaton Park as well as a series of festival dates, including in Europe, Asia, New Zealand and Australia, ending the tour in Glasgow in June 2013.

News of the new gigs was well received by fans, with one tweeting: "OH MY GOD !!!!! praying we get a ticket" and another adding: "Madchester Mad Fer It."

Tickets for the Etihad Stadium concerts on 17 and 18 June 2016 and T in the Park on 8 July 2016 will go on sale this Friday morning.
