Storm Bert Cornwall power cuts as power lines damaged
The wrath of Storm Bert has caused major chaos across Cornwall and the wider South West. This weekend, Saturday, November 23, and Sunday, November 24, strong winds and heavy rain have caused major flooding, travel disruptions, and power cuts.
According to the National Grid, the South West has been particularly badly affected, bearing the brunt of the bad weather, such as strong winds and gusts of around 60mph, which have caused tree falls and damage to power lines.
Key areas in Cornwall, including Falmouth, Truro, and Camborne, have suffered from power cuts. At the time of writing, there are seven power incidents in Cornwall.

A local resident who has gone without power for over ten hours has spoken to Cornwall Live and shared: "Carclew Road and Angarrick in Mylor Bridge have been without power since 3 am this morning. Lots of elderly residents in this community are vulnerable. "
Roisin Quinn, Field Operations Director for National Grid said: "“Despite the adverse conditions, engineering teams are restoring electricity supplies as quickly as they can.
“Due to the wind strength, overhead power lines may continue to be brought down and we’d urge customers who come across any to stay clear of them, and call us immediately on 105 so we can make them safe. We have extra staff working across all our teams, including in our network control rooms and our contact centres to support customers.”
