Storm Bert hour-by-hour forecast shows when snow, rain and wind will hit region

Storm Bert swept into Teesside on Saturday morning as Teessiders braced for an unsettled weekend of weather.

Teesside, Hartlepool and Darlington is currently covered by a yellow weather warning from for rain and snow. The Met Office says that heavy snowfall on Saturday morning followed by a rapid thaw and subsequent rain on Saturday night, may cause some disruption.

Redcar and Cleveland is also covered by a yellow warning for wind that has seen Redcar's Christmas light switch on event cancelled. An amber warning is also in place for snow until noon on Saturday covering Darlington, Durham and Northumberland.

The snowfall may be mostly over for the weekend but rain in strong wind gusts looks to be set in for the region. The Met Office said snow turns to rain by early afternoon, with a rapid thaw, then clears later. Turning milder with coastal gales easing.
