Storm Bert hour-by-hour forecast for Lancashire as torrential rain triggers flood warnings

Lancashire woke up to heavy rain and snow as Storm Bert hit the region on Saturday.

Two weather warnings were put in place by the Met Office, firstly, an amber alert for snow in eastern parts of the county until midday, then, a 29-hour yellow weather warning for snow and rain until 9pm on Sunday. Amber warnings mean there is the potential for risk to life and property.

Snow is forecast as far south as the Welsh valleys, but the heaviest will be later in the morning across Lancashire and Cumbria. The Met Office is calling Storm Bert a "multi-hazard weather event" and rail companies are urging passengers to avoid travelling to certain areas, while a number of key roads have been closed.

Meanwhile, flood warnings and alerts have since been issued by the Environment Agency with residents in the worst affected areas being told to 'act now'. One flood warning is in force for rovers in Accrington and Oswaldtwistle while alerts are also in effect covering areas of Burnley, Nelson, Colne, Whalley, Preston, Blackburn, Darwen, South Ribble, Chorley, Garstang, Lancaster and Carnforth.
