Storm Bert live tracker as two NI weather warnings to come into force this weekend

A Storm Bert arrives across the UK and Ireland, Northern Ireland is set to face a weekend of unsettled weather.

Two yellow weather warnings have been issued by the Met Office on Saturday for rain and snow and a separate warning for wind.

From midnight to 11am on November 23, Storm Bert will bring a "spell of rain, preceded by snow in places, on Friday night into Saturday which may cause some disruption".

A warning for wind comes into force from 5am to 7pm and the Met Office said the storm will "bring strong winds for a time on Saturday, which may cause some disruption in places."

The Met Office issued advice on what to expect during these weather warnings - they said:

  • There is a small chance of longer journey times or cancellations as road, rail, air and ferry services are affected

  • There is a slight chance of some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs

  • There is a slight chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage

  • There is a small chance that injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties

  • There is a small chance of injuries and danger to life from flying debris

  • There is a small chance that some roads and bridges could close

What is the Northern Ireland weather outlook for this weekend?

Friday night:

Clear start with a fairly widespread frost developing. Increasing cloud brings occasionally heavy rain overnight, preceded, especially over western hills, briefly by snow. Occasional southeasterly gales, severe near coasts, developing. Minimum temperature -2 °C.

Saturday:

A very windy start with persistent, occasionally heavy rain, becoming lighter and patchier towards midday, with some brighter spells developing for the afternoon. Southeasterly turning southerly winds easing. Much milder. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Unsettled with showers or perhaps some longer spells of rain, but mild. Strong southerly or southwesterly winds with coastal gales, easing a little on Tuesday.
