Storm Bert: Do not travel warning issued for Devon and Cornwall on Sunday
Passengers planning to travel by train to Devon or Cornwall this Sunday (November 24) have been advised to change their plans if possible, as rail chaos is predicted throughout the day across the south-west.
It comes as crew availability shortages and planned engineering works between London Paddington and Reading mean that no services will run between these two stations until 11.15am on Sunday.
And after this point, a reduced service will run between London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads, and between London Paddington and Devon/Cornwall. As a result, Great Western Railway has warned of "significant disruption" on Sunday, and has urged customers to "only travel if absolutely necessary".

Posting on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday morning, the account GWRHelp wrote: "We expect disruption to local services within the Bristol and Exeter areas. After 11.15am fewer trains will run on these routes. Those that do will be busy. Services may be cancelled or delayed at short notice.
"Because of late notice changes, and the complexity of updating timetable systems, journey planners will not show all changes correctly before Sunday morning. We advise customers to only travel if absolutely necessary, and change plans if possible."
To help customers amend their travel plans, Great Western Railway has ensured that any tickets already booked for journeys on Sunday will now be valid on both Saturday 23 November, and Monday 25 November. Alternatively, you can claim a full refund by visiting here.
