Storm Comes 'Out of Nowhere' in Sao Paulo
A dangerous storm brought heavy rain, “intense” wind and hail to Sao Paulo, Brazil, the National Institute of Meteorology (INMET) reported on Friday, October 11.
The INMET issued an orange alert and rated the storm as dangerous for the state of Sao Paulo, warning of heavy rain, intense winds up to 62 mph (100 km/h) and hail.
The agency said the storm could lead to power outages, damage to crops, falling trees and flooding.
Footage filmed by Vitur Sud shows strong winds in Sao Paulo’s Pinheiros neighborhood.
“The rain in Sao Paulo took my roof,” the source, who said the storm came “out of nowhere”, wrote in a post on X. Credit: Vitur Sud via Storyful
