Storm Darragh threat lurks as multiple weather warnings issued by Met Office
Multiple low pressure weather fronts are forecast to sweep across Wales over the next few days. If they deteriorate the country could be facing another named storm and it will be called Storm Darragh.
The first warning for Wales is a yellow weather alert for strong winds in which kicks in at 3pm on Thursday, December 5 to 6am on Friday. There is already a weather warning in place tonight for parts of Scotland.
A third yellow warning - for rain and wind - covers almost all of England and Wales from Friday afternoon until Sunday morning.

Up to 25mm (1in) of rain may fall quite widely but high ground in the west may see 50-70mm (2-3in), including in parts of Wales that were badly affected by Storm Bert less than two weeks ago.
The full warning reads: "Westerly or northwesterly winds will increase across Northern Ireland, parts of Scotland, north Wales, northern England, the north Midlands and East Anglia during Thursday afternoon and evening. Inland gusts of 40-50 mph are possible, with perhaps 60-70 mph along exposed coasts, especially through the North Channel and Irish Sea, causing some travel disruption. Strong gusts will also be associated with heavy showers which move through at times."
The warning primarily covers the north of the country. However, forecasters have also warned of a potential storm due to an area of low pressure coming our way.
The areas of low pressure heading our way have not been named as a storm yet, but it is only two weeks after parts of Wales saw Storm Bert cause destruction.
BBC Breakfast weather presenter Matt Taylor said that as the weekend starts there will be a "deepening area of low pressure" set to push its way through either late on Friday or early Saturday. He said: "Either way it looks set to develop into a substantial feature, so keep it in mind as it could be quite stormy and with more rain on the forecast we will have to keep an eye on river levels too." If the storm is named it will be Storm Darragh, and would arrive just days after Storm Bert and Storm Conall impacted the UK. A major incident was called during Storm Bert as hundreds of homes and businesses across the south Wales valleys were flooded. You can read more about that here.
Met Office deputy chief meteorologist Chris Bulmer said: “At this time is looks like the unsettled conditions will continue into the weekend with a deep low-pressure system probably crossing the UK into Saturday bringing strong winds and rain to some areas. Weather warnings will be issued as the details of the developments and hazards become clearer.
"Given the potential for disruption from this system it is important to keep up to date with the latest forecast." Once this low-pressure system has cleared the country it looks likely that colder northerly air will again push down across the UK from the north.
The UK long-range forecast for next week from the Met Office says: "Colder, showery and windy conditions then following for the remainder of the weekend. High pressure then very likely to have increasing influence into the following week with more settled conditions becoming established for a time. This should mean a good deal of dry weather with overnight frosts along with morning fog patches for some regions.
"Through to the end of this period there is an increased chance of spells of wetter and windier weather returning, these more likely in the north with southern areas having a better chance of more prolonged settled/drier weather. Temperatures varying around average with both some colder and milder spells likely through this period." Join our WhatsApp news community here for the latest breaking news.
