Man dies in Ayrshire as Storm Eowyn batters Scotland with 100mph winds
A man has died during Storm Eowyn. Emergency crews raced to East Road in Irvine at around 10.10am on Friday after receiving reports of an unresponsive man.
The 49-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene and his family have been notified by police. His death was originally feared to be caused by flying debris but police later said it was believed to be medical, reports The Record.
Officers were initially treating his death as unexplained but have since confirmed it is being treated as medical-related.

A spokesperson said: "Around 10.10am on Friday, 24 January, 2025, we were called to a report of an unresponsive man in East Road, Irvine.
"Emergency services attended and a 49-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His family is aware.
"The death is being treated as medical-related and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
Residents at East Road, where the man was found, said they learned of the tragedy when police knocked on their doors this morning.
One man, who asked not be named, said: "The first I heard was when the police knocked at the door about 10.30am. I heard it had happened at about 6.30am. They didn't say much but I believe he was found lying under the archway.
"On any other morning I would have been out and would have seen him."
Another resident said: "The police came round and asked a few questions but they didn't say anything about who the man was. My son called me to say that they'd heard the man had died. I don't know who he was."
Police cordoned off the area opposite the town's Portal Swimming Pool but that cordon had been removed by mid afternoon. The roof tiles could still be seen on the path between the houses where it is believed the man was hit.
