Storm Eowyn hour-by-hour forecast as wind to batter Merseyside again with new warning issued
Storm Eowyn has battered the UK today with weather alerts covering the nation. The conditions were worst in Scotland and Ireland as 725,000 homes were left without power in Ireland and all trains in Scotland have stopped running until at least midday tomorrow, after a rare red alert was issued.
On Merseyside, the Met Office has issued a total of three weather warnings. A yellow and amber alert are simultaneously covering the region today. The yellow warning spans nearly 24 hours, from midnight until 11.59pm tonight.
The amber warning was activated at 6am this morning and will be lifted at 9pm tonight. In relation to both warnings, the weather agency warns that the storm is expected to bring very strong winds and widespread disruption later on Friday and into early Saturday.

The Met Office states: "Storm Éowyn will move across the northwest of the UK on Friday, clearing to the northeast on Friday night and through Saturday morning. This will bring a spell of very strong west to southwesterly winds, with peak gusts of 60-70 mph fairly widely inland, 70-80 mph in some areas, and 80-90 mph along more exposed coasts and hills (perhaps even higher in a few locations). Winds will gradually ease from the south during Friday night and Saturday morning."
As the conditions are set to ease overnight, a yellow weather alert will cover all of Merseyside on Sunday, January 26. The Met Office has warned people to be prepared for "some disruption' as expect some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport. A warning for short-term loss of power and other services has also been issued. As well as longer journeys expected when travelling.
