Storm Eowyn: Prestwick Airport to remain closed until Saturday morning
Glasgow Prestwick International Airport has confirmed it will remain closed until tomorrow morning (Saturday, January 25) amid Storm Éowyn.
A rare red weather warning is in force until 5pm today (Friday, January 24), as the storm is forecast to bring winds as high 100mph along the Ayrshire coast.
Plans had originally been in place to reopen Ayrshire's only international airport at 5pm tonight (Friday) depending on storm damage but the closure has been extended until at least 5am.
Both the terminal building and the airfield are closed due to the storm with the terminal set to reopen at 3am.
Passengers are being encouraged to check with their airline before they travel tomorrow.
