Storm Eowyn wind map shows exact time strongest gusts will hit Yorkshire
Storm Eowyn is set to batter the UK on Friday with winds of up to 80mph expected.
An amber weather warning is in place for Yorkshire with the Met Office warning it poses a risk to lives with winds set to cause damaged structures, power outages, and dangerous debris could be thrown about in the gale-force gusts. The amber warning for wind, covering Harrogate, parts of Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield, Halifax, Penistone, Scarborough and the Peak District, has also been put in place.
This warning is in force from 6am on Friday, January 24 until 9pm. The Met Office added: "Storm Éowyn will move across the northwest of the UK on Friday, clearing to the northeast on Friday night. This will bring a spell of very strong west to southwesterly winds, with peak gusts of 60-70 mph fairly widely inland, 70-80 mph in some areas, and 80-90 mph along more exposed coasts and hills (perhaps even higher in a few locations).

"It should be noted that there may be a slight reduction in wind strength for a time as the centre of Storm Éowyn passes overhead, this most likely in parts of Northern Ireland and western Scotland, before winds rapidly increase again. Winds will gradually ease later on Friday."
For most of Leeds, Wakefield, Sheffield, York and Hull, a yellow weather warning for wind is in place. This will be in force from 12am on Friday, January 24, until 11.59pm on the same day.
