Storm Gloria Beaches Sailboats on Shores of Mallorca

Storm Gloria wreaked havoc on Port de Pollença, a small town in northern Mallorca, as strong winds and powerful waves sunk boats and smashed them onto the shores of the Spanish island on January 21.

Mallorca resident Karen Dempster posted a video to Twitter on January 22 showing the aftermath of the storm, and the start of cleanup operations.

“The cleanup begins. There is a sad air among the people watching. Terribly sad,” Dempster said in her caption.

Dempster told Storyful, “No one around here can remember anything like this, and there is a lot of talk about our changing climate, which worries people greatly.”
