Stormy Shelf Cloud Glides Over Northern Kansas

A dark arcus cloud was filmed gliding toward the north-central Kansas city of Salina on May 26.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued multiple storm updates for the region, warning of winds of up to 80 mph (129 km/h), tennis ball-sized hail, tornadoes and possible flooding.

Curtis Tatro, who shot this footage, told Storyful that as he was filming, “the temperature dropped 15-20 degrees just like that, and the wind went calm then like crazy in a matter of 30 seconds.” Credit: Curtis Tatro via Storyful
