Stormzy hits back at Daily Mail's 'grime artists glamorise drug use' claim
Stormzy has publicly slammed the Daily Mail for being ‘anti-black’.
After the DM published an article that suggested, as per its title, how ‘grime music is fuelling the use of ‘skunk” and accompanied by a montage of black artists, it was brought to his attention.
As one of the artists named in the piece, Stormzy didn’t hold back and accused the DM of blatant racism.
‘White rockstars (and pop stars) have been sniffing coke and taking MDMA and singing about it since the beginning of music just admit you’re anti-black and f**k off you tramps,’ the irate singer replied.

One user was quick to note how the same publication had frivolously talked about marijuana use when it was about an elderly white woman, calling out their hypocrisy and implied racism.
You people can be so annoying .
It was all fun and positive when you posted this article though . pic.twitter.com/Ou5wsijLyA— Adeola ~Dee~ Yusuf (@Adeola_Y) December 29, 2017
Its author, Ian Hamilton who is a cannabis researcher at York University, argues how grime music “‘brands itself quite well to promoting a product’ – whether that’s Nike, Adidas or even weed.”
The backlash towards the DM was intense, as people sided with Stormzy over the paper’s inflammatory headline.
Many noted the double standards when it came to how white people were represented in the media when singing about popping pills and taking drugs.
I don’t recall an uproar for ‘I took a pill in Ibiza’ about a white guy take pills. Actually it wasn’t scrutinised, it was praised and went to number one.

It’s not the first time the grime artist has clashed with the newspaper. When Stormzy called UK prime minister Theresa May ‘a paigon’, the DM were quick to slam him for his words.
Stormzy followed up today’s response with a further two tweets, expressing exactly how he felt about the newspaper…
Imagine raising your child, loving and nurturing them. Sending them off to school and then uni for them to grow up and then get a job working for the fucking daily mail. Embarrassing ♂️
