Stormzy leaves fans in hysterics with 'Jolene' Dolly Parton Twitter rant

Stormzy is known for offering an insightful commentary on cultural and political events, however, fans weren’t quite prepared for his latest Twitter rant, which saw the Grime artist offer a dissection of Dolly Parton’s 1973 hit song ‘Jolene’.

The song sees Dolly beg title character Jolene “please don’t take my man”, with Stormzy admitting that he wishes Dolly had more “self-love and confidence” as he pointed out that stealing her man isn’t really Jolene’s fault.

Taking to his popular social media page, which boasts over 1million followers, the star wrote: “Nah, Dolly Parton was spitting some real, real pain on Jolene and Jolene sounds like the baddest b. to ever walk the planet.

“She is BEGGING Jolene to not take her man, you know.

“Kinda sad, actually. Wish Dolly had more self-love and confidence or the strength to just leave my man cah [sic] it ain’t really Jolene’s fault.

“But then again, Jolene knows exactly what she’s doing, the lil jezzy [Jezebel]”.

Needless to say, Stormzy’s fans were tickled by the sudden outburst, with many praising the star for speaking the “truth”, tweeting:

The commentary comes just weeks after Stormzy hit the headlines after he took to Twitter to call the Daily Mail out on an “anti-black” article about him, proving that his profile really is as diverse as they come.
