Netflix's Stranger Things season 2 hasn't even landed on the streaming service yet, but the creators have confirmed when the show will probably end.

Creators Matt and Ross Duffer (aka The Duffer Brothers) told Vulture they have it all planned out, but it might be over sooner than you thought.

Ross said: "We're thinking it will be a four-season thing and then out," by which time the cast of young actors is likely to be old enough to start university.

Matt explained: "We just have to keep adjusting the story... Though I don't know if we can justify something bad happening to them once a year."

Ross then added: "They're going to have to get the f**k out of this town! It's ridiculous!"

Previously, Chief Hopper actor David Harbour explained just how the show's ending could play out.

In an interview with TV Line, he said: "We don't have an open-ended thing like The Walking Dead. There is an end to all these characters.

"We're going to give you something fun and then we're going to get out before we've worn out our welcome. We have a specific story that we're going to tell."

Meanwhile, the show's producer Shawn Levy explained that fans might be disappointed by some part of the new season – but that's a good thing. Somehow.

Aside from the details in the latest Comic-Con trailer for Stranger Things season 2, we know the show will pick up over Halloween, one year on from Will Byers' (Noah Schnapp) disappearance and subsequent rescue from The Upside Down.

We'll also get to meet two new characters, including The Goonies' Sean Astin, who'll play Bobby Newby, a love interest for Will's mum (Winona Ryder). Hopefully, this might keep her from breaking down in tears every two minutes.

There's been a host of other new castings, including three new kids and Dr Owens (Paul Reiser), who'll be tasked with covering up the event from season one.

Elsewhere, we know that there will be#JusticeForBarb in season two, but don't get your hopes up too much, as she's dead. Proper dead. You might have wanted her to be alive, but according to the creators, you really wanted her dead. Deep down.

We'll also look forward to an inevitable return from Millie Bobby Brown's Eleven, everyone's favourite quiet baldy, although her hair looks to have grown back now.

Head this way to read about season 2's episode titles and what they could mean for the show, along with all the questions we still desperately want to be answered from season one.

Stranger Things' season 2 is released on Netflix on October 27, 2017.
