Stranger Things fans spot clever detail when they zoom in on episode of Netflix show
Stranger Things smashed all kinds of records when it dropped on Netflix. The popular sci-fi TV series was the streaming platform's most-viewed show in 2022, racking up a mind-blowing watch time of 52 billion minutes.
So it's safe to say people are pretty excited for the final season to come out this year. We've had to wait three years for it, which has led to many going back to binge old episodes.
And while watching the programme back, fans are noticing details they didn't register the first time around. One of these is a fun Easter egg that pays homage to another one of Winona Ryder's iconic roles.

The actress, who plays Joyce Byers in the series, also famously starred in Tim Burton's horror/comedy film Beetlejuice. And Stranger Things creators wanted to give a nod to this.
TikTok user Ivan Mars, known as The Movie Detective, spotted the Easter egg in the second episode of the third season, which references Ryder's role as Lydia Deetz in Beetlejuice.
For a brief moment, viewers can spot Beetlejuice's gravestone when Joyce Byers, played by Ryder, visits school teacher Scott Clarke, played by Randy Havens. And Ivan responded to this realisation with a series of mind-blown emojis.
Fans were quick to comment on the discovery, with one saying: "Damn dude! You really about this life. Lol love it." Another pointed out: "There is a mirror at Joyce’s house that’s from Edward Scissorhands too." And a third chimed in: "Yeah, that's epic."
However, some weren't impressed that the timeframes didn't quite line up. A pedantic commenter pointed out: "Correct me if I'm wrong, but Beetlejuice came out 1988. And the timeliness set up for this is in the 80s."
Another agreed: "Stranger Things was supposed to take place in the summer of 85 but Beetlejuice didn't come out until 1988." And a third added: "Out of place. Stranger Things was 84-85 right?"
