Stranger Things' Millie Bobby Brown teams up with huge Marvel hero in Netflix movie
Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt are set to star alongside one another in a new Netflix movie. The Stranger Things actress and Marvel actor will take centre stage in The Electric State, which is due to be released in 2025.
Set in the 90s, the new sci-fi film is the latest project of Marvel directors Joe and Anthony Russo. The Electric State is based on the illustrated novel by Simon Stålenhag, which tells the story of a girl who teams up with a robot to find her missing brother.
A number of promo shots from the film have been released, showing Millie, 20, and Chris, 45, both in character as Michelle and Keats. Millie can be seen sporting bright blonde hair and full fringe, while Chris has long shaggy dark blonde hair and a thick moustache.

A first-look at the film's robots has also been released, with photos showing Millie alongside a number of huge robots. The movie also stars Ke Huy Quan as Dr Amherst, Giancarlo Eposito as Colonel Marshall Bradbury and Stanley Tucci as Ethan Skate.
Millie has opened up about her latest acting role, even comparing her character Michelle to her famous Stranger Things character Eleven. She told Vanity Fair: “We’re technically both the same age, so I feel like it was just: What are moments that I wouldn’t show my weakness? What are moments that I would? And I just played with that.
“I really want her to show that she’s made of stone because I want that to be the perception of who she is. But actually, as you get to know her, she softens and she warms up. And I tried to implement as much of my own experiences into her as possible.”
The Electric State creator Joe Russo also spoke about Simon Stålenhag's book and its relevance to audiences today. He noted: “It felt like a story about broken families and broken people trying to find each other in a broken world. It also felt resonant to us, raising our kids in a technology-heavy world. It could be an assaultive theme if the story were set in the present day."
He branded the author "so clever" as he showed humans "using technology to dehumanise themselves", and tells a story of "technology that aspires to become human".
An exact release date for The Electric State has not yet been given, but it is understood that the film will land on Netflix in March 2025.
