Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno Tonioli has laid into The X Factor's overnight ratings this year, comparing them to his own show's domination of Saturday nights.

The ITV singing show struggled against its BBC rival on overnight figures once again in 2017, something that Bruno is clearly rubbing in to rival Simon Cowell.

"We beat X Factor because we're better," he told the Daily Star. "I don't feel bad for Simon, no.

"I didn't watch X Factor this year. But how could I? I do Strictly and then I get on a plane to go to America the next day to do Dancing with the Stars.

He added: "You can only do what you can do. And X Factor is not my show."

Bruno also argued that Strictly is "getting better every year" and suggested that he "wouldn't change anything about it".

"Why would you change something that works? Strictly works because of its simplicity and its honesty.

"It's a great show and people can get involved. It's all-embracing – something everybody can watch together and join in the fun. So you don't change it."

As for his future on the show, Bruno said he would "keep going until [he] collapse[s]".

Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One, while The X Factor airs on ITV.
