Last night (September 23) marked the fabulous return of Strictly Come Dancing as this year's celebrities and their professional dance partners took to the floor for the first time.

And it seems like the excitement of the occasion got a bit too much for veteran judge Bruno Tonioli, who appeared to get a bit too swept up in his praising of Alexandra Burke's first performance.

"Oh, you make me feel so good," he began as he reached out to embrace new judge Shirley Ballas to demonstrate those feelings. "Touchy, feely, soft..."

He cut off with an "oh my God!" just as he was about to get a bit too familiar with Shirley, leaving everyone gasping, Shirley laughing and Tess to give Bruno a quick scolding.

"Bruno, what?" she said. "We are live, love."

Luckily, everyone seemed to take the slightly awkward moment with good humour, with Bruno carrying on with his commentary – albeit, seeming a little more ruffled – and Shirley sharing a small moment with fellow judge Darcey Bussell.

Who knows. Perhaps Bruno thought it was still Len sat next to him...

The judges were critiquing Alexandra Burke and Gorka Marquez's first dance, a Waltz to '(You Make Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman' by Aretha Franklin, which the singer dedicated to her late mother, who passed away last month.

The dance earned Alexandra a score of 24, placing her in a solid fifth position on the leaderboard in week one.

Providing her own critique, new judge Shirley Ballas – who went down really well with viewers at home – described the dance as "emotional".

"I could see this dance meant something to you, because it was quite emotional," she said. "I have a feeling you're going to be a frontrunner from what I've just seen."

There's no elimination this week, so Strictly Come Dancing continues next Saturday (September 30) on BBC One.
