Strictly Come Dancing star Janette Manrara has admitted that she is disappointed to see the departure of Brendan Cole from the show.

Back in January, Brendan – who has been part of the show since 2004 – revealed that he will not be back for the next series after confirming that his contract has not been renewed.

This has led to a number of stars associated with the show expressing shock, including Anton du Beke and former judges Len Goodman and Arlene Phillips.

Janette is the latest person to have her say. Speaking to OK! Magazine, the professional dancer described the whole situation as "horrible".

"It was horrible," she said. "Brendan has always been lovely to Aljaž [Skorjanec] and myself.

"Strictly is such a big programme. We didn't know how anything worked. Brendan was there to offer advice. He ended up becoming a great friend.

"He is such a Strictly legend who was there from the first series. It's sad to say goodbye but we will still be friends, and I'm sure he'll be amazing at whatever he chooses to do next."

Janette and Aljaž recently married, but neither of them believe in the so-called Strictly curse.

"That's never a thought that ever crosses my mind," Janette said. "It comes down to a man and woman. It's not Strictly's fault."

Aljaž added: "It's a Strictly blessing! It's lovely that we can work together."
