Kate Silverton has vowed to dance in Saturday night's Strictly Come Dancing finale in spite of still being injured.

The BBC newsreader revealed after her elimination last month that she'd been suffering from a lingering rib injury, which had been aggravated repeatedly during the rehearsal process.

The pain has continued since Kate left the job, but she's told The Sun that she has been cleared to reunite with partner Aljaž Skorjanec and all the other couples on Saturday night.

"It was a nasty injury," she said. "I had treatment this week, and the person I'm seeing thinks I might have cracked [the rib] because the injury has been so persistent.

"But I'm just getting on. It's a dancer's injury, and I'm 48 with two kids... It's to be expected."

While Kate admitted it's "bittersweet" to not be competing in the actual finale along with Faye Tozer, Ashley Roberts, Joe Sugg and Stacey Dooley, she has a firm favourite of the final four.

"We're all in a big chat and Saturday is going to be something very special. I want Faye to win but they're all fantastic and they're all winners," she said. "Wherever they go from here they have won, but [me and Faye] text all the time and we are very close – I think she is brilliant."

The Strictly Come Dancing finale airs on Saturday (December 15) at 6.30pm on BBC One, as one couple win the Glitterball Trophy. The special will also feature music from crooner Michael Bublé.
