Strictly's Katya Jones suggests Seann Walsh kiss scandal will be dragged out 'longer than Brexit'

Strictly Come Dancing professional Katya Jones has suggested that the furore surrounding her kiss with dance partner Seann Walsh will last “longer” than Brexit.

The dancer, who is married to fellow Strictly star Neil Jones, was photographed kissing Walsh outside a London pub in October. The comedian was in a relationship with actress Rebecca Humphries at the time.

The 30-year-old was quizzed by This Morning host Phillip Schofield over the scandal during an appearance on ITV magazine show, as she and Neil promoted their upcoming dance show Somnium: A Dancer’s Dream.

“Do you find that you guys would love to move on from the Seann kiss business, that it’s the media, it’s us essentially, who keep asking questions?” Schofield asked.

“I wonder what’s going to drag out longer, this kiss or Brexit,” Katya answered, before sarcastically adding: “And Brexit’s doing really well!

“We’ve moved on,” her husband continued. “This show is a celebration of the great times we’ve had together. 11 years at the end of the month.”

Discussing the show, which will take place at Sadler’s Wells from June 20 to 22, Neil explained: “It’s based on the career we’ve had together, our love story and things mixed in there.

“And we just thought it would be really good to tell that story through the eyes of Richard Porter who put us together and has been there with us from the beginning.”

Shortly after the kiss photos were published in October, Katya insisted that her “very happy” marriage had not been affected by the drama and that she and Neil would remain together.

“I wasn’t thinking and it was a one-off mistake after some drinks,” she wrote on Twitter. “I love my husband and we are very happy together, this is not a reflection on our relationship.”

The couple previously addressed the drama in an interview with Lorraine Kelly on her eponymous talk show, in which the presenter branded Katya a “dafty.”

Defending his wife, Neil said that although the headlines had been “a shock,” his main concern was for Katya’s wellbeing.

“It was that shock factor, and then for me, it was just straight away I was actually more worried about Katya because I was like, I can kind of see what was going to happen,” he explained.

“It was a natural reaction, we’ve been together for a long time.”

This Morning airs weekdays on ITv from 10.30am.
