Strictly Come Dancing 2016: Professional Dancers Begin Rehearsals For New Series

The professional dancers have started rehearsals for the new series of the show, meaning that it’s officially Strictly season!

The dance competition’s professionals have taken to Twitter to share their excitement ahead of Strictly Come Dancing’s 2016 series launch.

Neil and Katya Jones – World Professional Latin Showdance Champions and newcomers to the BBC ballroom – shared a sweet selfie on the train, as they travelled to the rehearsal room.

Along with some incredibly precise hashtag usage, Neil wrote: “On Route to the 1st day and Blastoff of our Strictly Adventure. #mondaymotivation #strictly #scd #strictlycomedancing #redhot100 #Monday #family #dancers #dancerslife #passion #day1 #thejoneses #areyoukeepingup #keepingupwiththejoneses (sic).”

Another married couple in amongst the ranks – Kevin and Karen Clifton – also tweeted about taking part as veterans in the BBC show, now in their fourth year, with Karen writing: “Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls @bbcstrictly Pro Rehearsals commence today. Let the games begin….”

And Kevin adding: “Day 1 @bbcstrictly rehearsals. Shoutout to my partners who survived 4 months w me! (sic),” tagging his previous celebrity dance partners, Susanna Reid, Frankie Bridge and Kellie Bright.

Meanwhile, another set of newcomers AJ Pritchard and Chloe Hewitt – who won the British Open Youth Latin Championships last year – took to Instagram to share an excited selfie with a simple caption: “AWAKE.”

While Brendan Cole – who has been on Strictly since the start – reminded us that the festive season is right around the corner, tweeting about his first day back: “It’s official…Normal life in 2016 is officially over for the @bbcstrictly Pro’s until Christmas! Yep, rehearsals start today (sic)!”

Alongside another pair of newbies, Oksana Platero and Gorka Marquez; male dancers Anton du Beke, Brendan Cole, Kevin Clifton, Pasha Kovalev, Aljaž Škorjanec and Giovanni Pernice will return to showcase their fancy footwork; with Karen Clifton, Natalie Lowe, Joanne Clifton, Janette Manrara and Oti Mabuse completing the ladies line-up.

Strictly Come Dancing will air on BBC One in September – when we will also find out which celebrities are taking part.
