With two couples already gone and the first theme week out the way, it’s a new day in the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom.

In a week somewhat overshadowed by off-floor events surrounding Seann Walsh and Katya Jones, the remaining 13 couples have been getting to grips with another dance.

And from hilarious routines to outstanding should-have-got-40 routines, the monthly mark in the competition has seen it.

Here are the top five routines from week four’s gone by…

Series 5 (2007): Matt Di Angelo and Flavia Cacace – American Smooth

Famed for playing Dean Wicks in EastEnders, Di Angelo talent in the Ballroom was undeniable from early on with an elegant American Smooth in week four.

Their dance to For Once In My Life, which they performed again in the final, earned them 36 – higher than the other two contenders with the AS that week, Alesha Dixon and Kelly Brook.

Series 6 (2008): Rachel Stevens and Vincent Simone – Quickstep

Light on her feet, the S Club 7 star showed off her elegance with the Quickstep wearing a beautiful mint green dress.

Her routine to Little Green Bag, that tune from Reservoir Dogs, landed her second on the leaderboard with 33, significantly above the three other Quicksteps that week at 26 (Christine Lampard and Matthew Cutler), 23 (Heather Small and Brian Fortuna) and 19 (Jessie Wallace and Darren Bennett).

Rachel and Vincent made it all the way to the final, finishing second behind Tom Chambers and Camilla Dallerup.

Series 7 (2009): Ali Bastian and Brian Fortuna – Salsa

Bastian – known for her role as Becca Dean in Hollyoaks – showed her dancing prowess from week one, but particularly came alive in her fast and furious Salsa.

The 32-scoring Salsa was helped by a traditional song choice, Quimbara, which gave way to some fantastic choreography.

Ali and Brian, who performed some beautiful dances in their time, narrowly missed out on the final, leaving in the semi-final in fourth place.

Series 11 (2013): Mark Benton and Iveta Lukosiute – Cha Cha Cha

The pure hilarity of Benton’s routine earns him a place on the weekly list, his Cha Cha Cha really played to his comedy side.

With Benton dressed in gold next to Lukosiute’s black dress, the pair only scored 26 for their U Can’t Touch This routine – Craig Revel Horwood giving them a 3 – but the public absolutely adored everything about it.

Series 15 (2017): Alexandra Burke and Gorka Marquez – Jive

The standard of Jives is incredibly high in Strictly, and Burke added another memorable routine to the mix with her week four offering to Proud Mary.

The leading lady, who went all the way to the final, seriously impressed with her ode to Tina Turner – a lesson in characterisation and great technique.

Alexandra and Gorka’s routine scored them 39, only Craig Revel Horwood standing in the way of a full house, and the highest scoring jive ever seen outside a final.
