Strictly Come Dancing won’t return to our screens until the second half of the year but already we’re thinking about the celebrities who might be taking part in the 2019 series.

Last year saw the likes of Joe Sugg, Faye Tozer, Charles Venn and Lauren Steadman taking part, while Stacey Dooley was the celeb who lifted the glitter ball trophy.

Who’s set to step into their dancing shoes this year? While the BBC hasn’t confirmed anything yet, here’s what we know so far about the people rumoured to be taking part…

The radio DJ has revealed he’s said yes to taking part in Strictly in 2019.

Evans made the announcement on The One Show in December 2018 to the surprise of host Alex Jones and the rest of the studio

At that time, Chris said he hadn’t signed on the dotted line but who knows whether talks have developed since then.

BBC newsreader Huw has been a regular on our TV screens for years, but now he’s considering swapping hid desk and suit for the Strictly ballroom and sequins.

Speaking on Steve Wright’s Radio 2 show, Huw said: “Following my stellar appearance reading out the [Strictly] terms and conditions in early December, where I basically set the British television world alight, I was then asked whether I would consider Strictly.

The newsreader is thinking over his options.

“I think I’ve just got to ponder it over the summer… just gauge public opinion,” he said.

Much like Huw, Alan was asked to take part in Strictly 2019 after reading out the Ts & Cs during the 2018 series.

“After I did the terms and conditions on the final this woman basically threw a net over me and held me hostage until I said I’d do it!” the comedian revealed to

But don’t get too excited just yet. While Alan is keen to take part, it probably won’t be this year.

“I would love to do the show at some point but I’ve got lots coming up in 2019 including a few TV things and a stand-up tour, so it’s going to be very busy. I would love to do it at some point and it’s on my bucket list, but sorry – not next year,” he said.

We’ll keep you updated with more news about the Strictly 2019 line-up as and when it emerges.
