Strictly Come Dancing: Alexandra Burke 'furious' as rival Gemma Atkinson 'gets close' to her dance partner

The so-called ‘Strictly curse’ works in mysterious ways.

And we’re only in week two and already this year’s ‘victims’ have been identified – with reports that Gemma Atkinson is “cosying up” to the professional Gorka Marquez.

But there’s a twist this year, because Gorka isn’t even Gemma’s partner. He’s Alexandra Burke’s dancing professional – who is said to be less-than-happy with the romance.

Gemma has denied there is anything going on, but sources claim the “blossoming romance” is the talk of the make-up room.

Speaking to The Sun, an insider said: “Not surprisingly, Alexandra is furious about how it might impact her chances of winning. She’s very ambitious and is nervous about it all”

Emmerdale star Gemma is paired with Aljaz Skorjanec, but the source went on to claim that she and Gorka “clicked” when they met during group rehearsals and she is enjoying “getting to know him”.

The pair have set tongues wagging by posting pictures of each other on their Snapchat accounts, with fans questioning why they are spending so much time together.

Previous reports claimed that Gemma and Gorka were “all over each other” at the dancer’s birthday party – speculation that Gemma quickly shot down.

Speaking to OK! magazine, the actress said: “He didn’t have a birthday party. All of us are staying in the same hotel – the cast, the contestants and some of the production staff.

“One night before the launch, about 15 of us had a meal together and we told the restaurant to bring out a cake for Gorka.

“We all sang happy birthday and I was sitting with Simon [Rimmer] and Giovanni [Pernice], not Gorka, but I read we were all over each other. It wasn’t true.”

She added: “I’ve only seen [Gorka] for the launch and live shows. He’s a friend and the only thing we’ve shared is his guacamole recipe.”
