Irate Strictly Come Dancing viewers have threatened to 'boycott' the show for the resit of this series, having been left upset and disgusted by this week's result, as Jame Borthwick was sent home after a dance-off against Montell Douglas.

Given that Jamie and Michelle have scored consistently well with the Strictly judges and Jamie had never actually been in the bottom two so far, Sunday's Strictly result was a bitter pill to swallow for many fans, particularly those backing Montell, as the former Olympian ended up in trouble, despite scoring 37 out of 40 for her Quickstep and then finishing third in the group Sambathon.

Given that he finished at the foot of the leaderboard for the seconds successive week, many viewers assumed that Pete Wicks' time on the BBC programme would be up, as did bookies who made him the runaway favourite to get the chop. However, clearly people have been underestimating the ex TOWIE star's popularity with the voting public, as he once again made it through, without even having to battle it out in the dance-off.

No-one appeared more shocked than Pete as he and Jowita were revealed to be safe, but there were plenty of others at home who didn't share in his delight and branded this week's Strictly results as a 'joke.' Vowing to give the show a wide berth from now on, one fan raged: "Will not be watching Strictly any more this year - poor Jamie & Michelle stitched up by Shirley (unpleasantly letching over Pete Wicks!) - thought you and Michelle were great Jamie, you got all my votes."

In agreement, a second posted: "Won’t be watching now Jamie was stitched up!" as a third, also ready to 'switch off,' ranted: "I’m done with Strictly Come Dancing. The dance off is a joke tonight! The thing that has cheesed me off the most, the judges erratic scoring! Craig is the only one you can rely on! No need for a BBC TV Licence anymore"
