Strictly Come Dancing: Carol Kirkwood Joins The Line-Up

This year’s Strictly Come Dancing is creeping up on us faster than hayfever on a particularly pollen-filled day, and now the sixth celeb dancer has been announced - BBC weather presenter CAROL KIRKWOOD!

Yep, Carol will be covering herself head-to-toe in sequins and joining Jeremy Vine, Ainsley Harriott, Kellie Bright, Georgia May Foote and Katie Durham on the dancefloor.

Foxtrots at the ready, everyone.

Louise Minchin and Bill Turnball revealed that 53-year-old Carol had joined the line-up on the BBC Breakfast show, with the weather presenter herself saying she was “thrilled” to be taking part.

Carol, who had the codename ‘Little Mermaid’, said: “It feels really exciting. It doesn’t feel real yet because we haven’t started training or dancing yet.

“I can do a bit of mum dancing, but I don’t know my left from my right! I’ve only ever done Scottish dancing!”

We FORECAST that you’ll do just swell, Carol.

On the subject of who she’d like to be paired up with, she admitted: “l like all the dancers but I have a soft spot for Aljaz.“

She has also said: “I am beyond excited to be taking part in the best programme on British telly and have been a huge fan since it started.

“I can’t wait to learn to dance and hope my experience on Strictly will be a breeze. Whether it will be or not is one forecast I cannot predict!”

The BBC news team have had varied levels of success on the show, with former Breakfast host Susanna Reid being a runner-up in 2013.

Chris Hollins, of course, won back in 2009, while Natasha Kaplinsky won the very first series in 2004.

Bill Turnball, Fiona Phillips, Kate Garraway and Richard Arnold sadly didn’t fare quite so well.

This year’s series returns to BBC One next month, and we cannot ruddy WAIT to get our dancing shoes on again.

By which we mean we cannot WAIT to restart our Saturday night routine of setting up camp on the sofa surrounding by cheesy snacks, cheap rosé and the question of whether we should maybe get out more.
