So this is it, the grand final of Strictly Come Dancing 2018 with four celebrities going for the glitterball.

This week, Ashley Roberts, Faye Tozer, Joe Sugg and Stacey Dooley will be hoping to lift the famous trophy and take over the title from Joe McFadden and Katya Jones.

The last week, with the exception of the showdance, is reserved for routines we’ve previously seen. Each celebrity performs three routines, although it used to be that one couple went before the third dances.

Week 13 is a relatively new development – it has only been around since series 11 (2013). But it’s been home to some showstoppers. Here are five of the best…

Series 11 (2013): Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Brendan Cole – American Smooth

The judges chose to revisit Musicals Week for singer Ellis-Bextor and her partner Cole. An elegant routine to The Sound Of Music’s Favourite Things, the dance was everything to love about the American Smooth and scored a respectable 36 the first time around.

Their second outing earned them 39, with three 10s, but sadly wasn’t enough to make the second part of the final. They were booted out in fourth place.

Series 12 (2014): Caroline Flack and Pasha Kovalev – Cha Cha Cha

Flack and partner Kovalev performed the second of two Cha Cha Cha’s in the judges’ choice round of the grand final. For Flack, the routine took her all the way back to week one where she hit the ground running with 27.

Flack, who had been a frontrunner the whole way through, proved that she’d turned into an excellent dancer as she scored a perfect 40. Hours later, the Love Island host lifted the glitterball.

Series 13 (2015): Katie Durham and Anton Du Beke – Quickstep

Ballroom king Du Beke and Durham were given their week seven routine to 42nd Street for their judges' choice, the first of two dances they performed in the grand final.

The elegant and sophisticated Quickstep scored them 31 points, five up on their first total. The couple finished fourth in the competition after being eliminated at the start of the results show later on the Saturday before getting to their favourite dance.

Champions that year? Jay McGuiness and Aliona Vilani, with Vilani becoming the first professional to win twice.

Series 14 (2016): Danny Mac and Oti Mabuse – Samba

The Samba is never an easy dance to pull off but Mac managed a perfect score for it twice – first in week 10 and again for their “favourite dance” choice in the final.

Mac and Mabuse really brought the party to Elstree with their Samba with party music and traditional choreography. The dance was the last they performed – going out on a high – but they missed out on the title to Ore Oduba and Joanne Clifton.

Series 15 (2017): Alexandra Burke and Gorka Marquez – American Smooth

The Strictly judges' chose Burke’s week three routine, a Movie Week special, for them to redo as their first dance in the final.

The duo bettered their score of 33 for the My Fair Lady routine, scoring the first 40 of the night and the only full house of the first round. They fell short of the title, finishing among the runners up to Joe McFadden and Katya Jones who lifted the trophy.

Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturday at 6.30pm on BBC One.
